Foraminiferal test at an advanced stage of dissolution. All the specimens were picked across the PETM interval. A shows extreme dissolution, calcite overgrowth and neomorphism of planktonic foraminifera. Dissolution has destroyed all the ornamentation, enlarged the pores spaces and removed some chambers. B – D shows advanced stages dissolution and thinning of the test walls with fragmentation setting in. E – G are fragments of foraminifera test at the final stage of dissolution. Note the coccolithophores on specimen F; it is a post-depositional attachment unlike the previously described test with nannofossil incorporated in the test fabric
